Wed. Sep. 14, 2016 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Karl Moehlmann, whom many of you know from previous presentations, will lead a discussion of the latest public events and debates in Germany. How is Germany dealing with the refugee question one year after Angela Merkel’s proud "Wir schaffen das" last fall? Do we?
We seem to be doing quite well, but the debates are continuing. The headscarf is still a hot topic, so is the burka, the naqip, and, as a new item, the worries about the "burkini". Integration and fashion - well... And nobody seems to learn German within one year. But otherwise, things appear rather quiet on the refugee front, as far as they are concerned, but there is some anxiety in the country, as well as political disagreement and some new surprising election results.
Karl Moehlmann will wrap up the evening with the latest fake news of the satirical Heute Show.
Refreshments will be served.
All of our events are open to the public.
We welcome members and non-members alike.
Due to the summer holidays, the Office will be CLOSED from July 23-August 14. We will resume normal hours on Monday, August 15th.
