Every week, something fun is happening at the German Society of Pennsylvania. Lectures, Panel Discussions,
Movies, German soccer broadcasts, and  music fill our home on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, "philanthropy" can be defined as "the effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations".

At the German Society, we could not provide even half of the events or programs we offer on a weekly basis if it weren't for our dedicated and generous members/volunteers.  However, with rising costs of the exchange rate, gas, electric, water, and other utilities - even textbooks - our 120+-year-old home on Spring Garden Street has become increasingly difficult to maintain.  Just heating our 2,600 square foot Auditorium during the winter months is quite costly - as is maintaining the heat and humidity controls in our Library.

Therefore, we encourage you to become a German Society Donor.  There are many ways to give your time, talents, and treasures.  Plus, we are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so your monetary donations and gifts in-kind are tax-deductible.

Please consider one of the methods below.

Financially
By making a contribution to the German Society through the secure nonprofit website, Guidestar, you can help to create new and inventive programming, maintain the collections in our library, support scholarships, and preserve our historic building.  Click here to donate now.  You can designate your gift to any of our ongoing projects: elevator installation, scholarships, language program, etc.  We also offer monthly giving plans.

GoodSearch and GoodShop
What if the German Society earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our mission? Well, now it can!

GoodSearch.com is a Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!

GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting your favorite cause.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=819760 and be sure to spread the word!
