

The play follows the story
of Adam and Eve. At the opening of the play, Adam is covered in various
injuries and begins talking with his secretary, Licht. The broken jug is not
mentioned until the sixth scene, but the audience is made aware that Adam is a
highly suspicious character from the beginning. The trial, during the second
half of the play, shows the characters trying to piece together the events which
led to the breaking of the jug. At the end, Eve states that Adam broke the jug
and chaos ensues. Adam is able to make his escape during the
confusion.

work Kleist wrote which is pure comedy, and it will be performed during a return
