Sat. Oct. 5, 2019 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
On October 5, at 7pm, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts’ Rhoden Arts Center on North Broad Street, bestselling author Andrea Wulf will speak about “The Invention of Nature. Alexander von Humboldt’s Adventures in the New World”. PAFA is currently showing “From the Schuylkill to the Hudson: Landscapes of the Early American Republic”, and Humboldt had a huge influence on painters like Fredric Edwin Church – an aspect of Humboldt’s legacy that Ms Wulf will expand on in her talk.  Doors will open early so that you can have a look at the exhibit before the lecture starts. General audience tickets will be $20 ($10 for members of the German Society or PAFA). Ticket sales for members will start August 19 and for non-members on 8/26. Buy your tickets early. This is a high-profile event which may sell out quickly.
