Welcoming North Rhine-Westphalia to the German Society

NordrheinWestphalia Delegation at the German Society

We were delighted to welcome a delegation this week from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to the German Society of Pennsylvania!

Hosted by Maiken Scott, the gathering included Dr. Frank Hochapfel and Elena Sandmann from the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as Dr. Christian Feiler, David Stephenson, and Thorsten Peter from NRW’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy.

We were also very pleased to welcome Lisa Hollenbach (Head of Press) from the German Consulate General in New York; Susanne Johnson, Director of the German American Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia; David Briel, Senior Managing Director of International Trade & Investment at BusinessPA; and Alex Mederos, Director of International Business Development at BusinessPA.

Over lunch, we enjoyed a lively conversation about the long-standing ties between Pennsylvania and North Rhine-Westphalia, our shared German-American heritage, and especially the historic connections to Krefeld. It was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, learn more about each other’s work, and explore possibilities for future collaboration. We are grateful that the delegation included the German Society in its Pennsylvania visit and look forward to staying connected!
