Concert of the Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir with the Philadelphia Boys Choir

Thu. Oct. 4, 2018 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Please join us on October 4 at 7pm when we welcome the Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir together with the Philadelphia Boys Choir.
The program will include a broad range of sacred and secular works spanning from the 16th century to present day.
Founded in 1967 by Bishop Dr. Wilhelm Kempf, the Limburger Cathedral Boys Choir is by now considered one of the most famous boy's choirs in Germany. The boy's choir, which is active in masses and concerts throughout the year, is equipped with an abundant repertoire. The musical literature reaching from Gregorian chant to contemporary works is rehearsed from Monday to Thursday. The repertoire includes masses for several voices and motets by Palestrina, Lassus, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Bruckner and modern compositions, masses with orchestral accompaniment of the Vienna classical period, as well as folksongs and madrigals from all over the world. Among the major activities of this choir are numerous domestic and international journeys: France, Italy, Poland, Hungary and Finland were the latest places that left remaining impressions and a feeling of accomplishment.
Renowned for their musicianship, intelligence and interpretive abilities, the Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale has cultivated a devoted following worldwide for their highly-acclaimed concerts and performances. Established in 1968 and under the direction of Jeffrey R. Smith since 2004, the Choir is known as “America’s Ambassadors of Song”, having proudly represented both the City of Philadelphia and the United States of America on its many concert tours across the globe.
