Ann Marie Ackermann lecture: ‘Death of an Assassin: the true story of the German murderer who died defending Robert E. Lee’

Tue. Oct. 24, 2017 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Ann Marie Ackermann, a former attorney with a focus on criminal and medical law and author of historical crime narratives, will present her recent book “Death of an Assassin”. The book reconstructs from long-hidden facts the vivid tale of a true crime story, in which a soldier and former German assassin enlisted in a German company of the Pennsylvania Volunteers after fleeing to the United States and later died in the Mexican-American War defending Robert E. Lee’s battery at the Siege of Veracruz in 1847. Although identified by military records, none of the Americans ever knew about his past life of crime.

Join us for a lecture on the astonishing crime masterpiece “Death of an Assassin” on October 24th.  The event is free and open to the public.
