Konversationsabend: German Society Update with President Tony Michels

Wed. Apr. 10, 2019 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm
This evening we have the honor and the pleasure to welcome Tony Michels, the President of the German Society of Pennsylvania. He will give us an update on the multitude of developments and changes that happened recently in and outside the Society. These include major structural projects like the installation of a new and efficient heating and air conditioning system for the entire building based on the latest geothermal technology. This not only puts the German Society in the front line of progressive ecological engineering within the city of Philadelphia, but also significantly increases program and event planning possibilities during all seasons. This project has been initiated and completed under the leadership and personal involvement of the President. He will give us a tour to see for ourselves.
The President will also get us up to date with the changes of program and event developments, outreach programs and much more. He will deal with the question what the mission of the German Society should be in the 21st century, how we can keep the German heritage alive for members and for the city. The question is not only what Philadelphia can do for us as a location, but what we can do for Philadelphia. How can we contribute to the life of the city, how can we, within and beyond the city, represent the Germany of today?
This will also be an opportunity for members to discuss with the President their own ideas for the present structure and the future of the Society.
As always – all are invited, all are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
All of our events are open to the public.
We welcome members and non-members alike.
